Help with choosing a fridge or freezer

Click here to continue with your product selection.

This web site utilises a proactive interrogation system to assist you in choosing an appliance that is suitable for your needs. If you already know the model number that you require, key this into the white box on the main search page to quickly see the refrigerator's features and price, as well as a picture if available. The interrogation system offers you the following choices, provided of course that refrigerators with these features have not been ruled out by your initial selections:

Build

Freestanding refrigerators are built to stand independently in a kitchen or utility room and do not need to be located in a cabinet system.

These refrigerators are designed to fit into a cabinet system housing and usually allow a cabinet door to be fixed to the front.

These refrigerators are designed to allow a cabinet door and plinth to be fixed to the front of the unit, enabling it to be built into a fitted kitchen system, under a work surface. These products usually feature height-adjustable feet.

Size

The choice of sizes available should be easy to understand, although the following may also help:

There are small differences between manufacturers, but 'standard width' refrigerators are normally 550 to 600mm wide.

Any refrigerator that is around 500mm wide is referred to as 'slimline'.

Table-top refrigerators are small enough to be located on a kitchen worktop.

These refrigerators are typical of those found in the USA and are generally wider than 600mm. They are usually quite tall and often feature double doors.

Type

The traditional type of fridge with a small freezer compartment, or ice-box.

Also known as a larder fridge.

A refrigerator designed to freeze its entire load.

A refrigerator with two compartments: one for chilling and storing food at temperatures above freezing point; and one for freezing food at sub-zero temperatures.

Make

Select your preferred manufacturer, or choose 'Any' to view all the different makes of refrigerator that otherwise meet your criteria.

Colour

Although manufacturers often use specific and sometimes confusing names to describe their colour options (such as Natural Linen, Zircon and Anthracite), we have simplified all colour names (in the case of the above; to beige, silver and black). It is hoped that this method is of benefit to our customers but please refer to the detail pages or to our qualified sales personal if you are in doubt as to the true colour of a refrigerator. Please also note that where a photograph of a particular refrigerator is not available, a picture of the same model in a different colour may be substituted. This does not mean that the model you order will be incorrect.
